Designed by technology company IK Media, the iRig Mic HD is the upgraded version of iRig Mic and features a sturdy metal-body with convenient handheld form factor. It can also be mounted on a standard mic stand, using the included clip, thus giving it additional utility. Unlike the previous version, in the iRig Mic HD, the sound first goes through a high-definition, audiophile grade pre-amp, and then is converted to digital sound with a 24-bit analog-to-digital converter. The mic features a 24-bit audiophile-grade A/D converter, a 44.1/96 kHz sampling rate, and a low noise/high definition pre-amp. With such a versatile feature, user can even use iRig Mic HD for 96 kHz high-resolution recording projects.
The iRig Mic can be connected with your Apple devices with detachable cables. The mic itself comes with a Lightning Connector cable and a USB cable, which makes it compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touche, and a USB cable for connecting to your Mac. It can additionally be connected with older versions of cable, like 30-pin but user will have to side-order it from the store.
Presently, there are other alternatives available in the market to replace iRig, but the company claimed their gadget priced 1/3rd of what’s available in the market. The iRig Mic HD will cost $99.99/€79.99 and will be available in early Q2 this year.
