Everyone is waiting for the next in line popular smartphones from the cellular giant companies such as Apple and Samsung, which are expected to be released in the coming month. Although all these smartphones will offer high-end specifications with improved upon features but we doubt if anyone will be able to give a complete new look to the smartphone. Though Sharp may be the one company bringing novelty to smartphone design; sadly no one is talking about it.
Sharp developed its first smartphone with “Sharp Aquos Crystal” technology from its line of LCD televisions. The standout feature is the 5-inch display which deviated from the norm to provide a complete ‘Edge To Edge Screen’ with no bezel around it. Due to its rather different look, the Aquos Crystal looks like a device from a Sci-Fi fantasy.
Despite the pretty look, the display screen only offers a resolution of 720p HD with 294 pixels per inch (ppi) while other competitors have higher densities. Still the display has a retina technology which stands out from about 12 inches from your face.
Aquos Crystal has focused on HD Voice experience for its users, for which purpose they have removed the clear earpiece and proximity sensor which helps to avoid unnecessary swipes and touches. The handset, without these sensors, locks down the screen during call and uses the whole panel surface to create sound.
The Aquos Crystal features a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with 1.5 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage and up to 128 GB storage through microSD. The handset camera has a “smile detector” and “golden ratio” to capture happy pleasing photographs. It will be running Android 4.4.2 KitKat when shipped next month. Since the mobile is sprint exclusive, the Aquos Crystal will cost $239 without any contract.
This smartphone may not be the dream phone with advanced features but it does provide unique design, useful features and an affordable price tag.
