“Art doesn’t have to be pretty. It has to be meaningful.” ~Duane Hanson
This is how French Artist artist Sebastién Del Grosso gave meaning to his art through a simple amalgamation of photography, illustration and creativity. It is a five step process from taking a selfie to transforming it to a surreal art.
Del Grosso named this series of art as L’esquisse d’un vie (The Sketch of Life) and Désir d’existence” (The desire for existence).
Del Grosso was interested in illustrating the main stages of life. He explained his creations as a way of giving birth to reality. In an interview with Mashable, he stated, “Since my childhood, drawing has always been a passion, but when I discovered photography, I thought that the combination of these two passions would allow me to give free rein to my imagination.”
The self-portrait series reflected a man trying to block out the noise from the world around him, a faceless man confused of his own identity, an unconditional love of a father for his daughter, a man caught on his own wrong-doings, a man who wants to transform to a new personality or simply appreciating the beauty of life.
