Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle – the first and might the only thing that comes in our mind, when we hear the word drone. But that’s not the only purpose of drone technology. RC planes and Quad-Copters have certainly revolutionized the air industry in combat, but it also offers a unique experience of remote flying and photography. Inspired by the idea of aerial photography, these guys from San Diego – USA have designed a multicopter, powerful enough to carry a high quality action camera and folds up smaller than a 7in tablet. While there are multiple alternatives available in the market, this project is banking on its quality and size.
This kickstarter funded project is fold-able and comes with a rechargeable battery, which lasts for 20 minutes on full load. Aside capturing capability, the detachable camera features a high quality 1080 HD video recording. The Pocket Drone is piloted with a standard radio controller, on a tablet with virtual sticks or by Pre-defined GPS way-points using its software by simply dragging a path featuring a touch interface and Google Maps. User can also record, save and share, or download flight plans.
The system also works with “Follow Me” command. Once enabled, the drone automatically start following the tablet or phone, wherever it goes. So, you can also become an aerial photographer by grabbing your personal drone for under a $500 working model.
