The long-awaited Polaroid Socialmatic is now available for pre-order with a price tag of US $299. The Polaroid camera, similar in looks to Instagram, can capture and print photos like the original Polaroid camera but it is equipped with Wi-Fi to enable instant sharing over the internet.
The camera, running an Android OS, was first revealed as a concept in May 2013 and has now been fined tuned to a market ready device. It weighs about 544 g and has 14 MP forward facing camera with a 2 MP selfie-snapper on the other side. The print photograph can be taken out with a push of the button and has a print dimension of 2 x 3 in.
The Socialmatic camera is equipped with GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth which enables photo-geotagging and remote printing. The Instagram look alike has a 4.5 inch color touch screen where users can browse internet and access email. The camera is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and comes with a 4GB onboard storage which can be extended to 32 GB via microSD card.
As mentioned earlier, the camera can be pre-ordered at US $ 299 in either black or white color model from various online retailers. Amazon is expected to ship the product from January 1, 2015.
